What does paper bags have to do with stopping nosebleeds?
What is the scientific reason for using rolled up paper bags under the upper lip for stopping nosebleed? I thought it was a pressure point thing.

- Just quit douing blow.
- Never heard of this.
- THe strategy has always been to lean forward and block the nostrils. putting a block under the upper lip is presumably to accomplish this without applying pressure directly to the nose which might cause brittle arteries to break.
- I have never heard of this; it's not standard medical practice to my knowledge. Tilt forward and pinch, sometimes ice helps as well. I wonder if it is effective though....I'll try it next time.
