Why do certain people drink bottles of liqueur from paper bags?

1. Open container laws prohibit them from drinking in public, the paper bag covers the bottle making them more (not by much) inconspicuous.
2. It is illegal in many states to walk around with showing alcohol. For instance, I live in Washington state and it is illegal to leave the grocery store with a 6-pack or bottle of wine that is not in a bag, or to leave the liquor store without a bag.
3. I believe that this started because alcoholism was not always acceptable as it is today and people started to leave the drink of choice in the bag they received it in at the market so that others would not know what they are drinking.
4. because it cannot be shown in many states and some people like me are too young to be drinking
5. They're usually too drunk to realise how stupid they look doin that.
6. it covers the bottle!
7. They are cultivating the sophisticated "wino" image.
